Employees who are on break or lunch are asked not to disturb employees who are not on break or lunch so as not to interrupt their workflow. Instead, direct conversation and comments to only those who are also on break at the same time as you are.
Breaks and lunches should be taken away from the office to limit distractions. If you eat at your desk, inevitably, food crumbs, grease, sauce, etc. will end up on your desk, in your keyboard, and on the floor. And the mess looks bad to clients being brought into the office space to be closed on packages. Therefore, it is policy that you don’t eat at your desk or anywhere in that office space. Go outside or into the locker room please, and wash your hands when you’re done.
If you clock in or out before others, it is asked that you not chat with or interrupt those that are still on the clock.
Because LeoFit shares space with other businesses, it is now policy that we also do not interrupt the staff of those other businesses with chatting either while we are on or off break, or before and after we clock in or out. They are working too.
This does not mean that normal courtesy items such as “Good Morning!” or “There was someone here while you were out, here is their info…” type conversation would be eliminated, but casual conversation is not OK as it takes you away from your job and can act as a distraction from THEIR work.
